Style Feature - Seating Cards

Happy Monday! hope you have all had a lovely weekend.

Today's inspiration board is all about seating/escort cards. These important little pieces of stationery are one of the first things your guests will see at your wedding reception, and most importantly will set the tone for the rest of the evening. One important thing to remember when creating you seating/escort card display is to keep in theme with the rest of your wedding, if your having a fun outside garden wedding then use flowers or part of the garden to display your cards, think old wooden crates or baskets filled with moss and tall flowers or wrap old twine around a thick tree trunk and peg your cards around it, the options are endless...

Style Board No. 14 - Lakeside

Good Morning everyone, well it has been far to long since my last post... I have only just got back into the swing of things since returning from my 5 week trip to the USA.

So lets start the week off with a style board reflecting a gorgeous summer lakeside wedding, think a relaxed and laid back affair, boys in casual khaki and navy and bridesmaids in simple summer dresses. Enjoy!

Real Wedding - Carrie and Sean

Well have I got a treat for all you readers today... I am so pleased to bring you the gorgeous wedding of Carrie and Sean, photographed by the very talented Andrew and Hailey. This cute couple were married last year in a secret garden amidst the Byron Bay Hinterland. I was lucky enough to work with Carrie on her invitations and other paper goods, and what a delight she was to work with, Carrie had to be one of the most amazing brides to work with, such a sweetheart. Thank you Carrie and Sean for making my job so easy.

Well lets get to the good stuff... Inspired by the wedding blogs they read throughout their planning, the couple scoured etsy for a lot of the gorgeous details you see here. Carrie explained, “Prior to getting engaged I had no idea about the HUGE world of weddings out there on wedding blogs. Etsy.com was also an endless inspiration and a principal contributor to our wedding.”

“Our table decorations were made up of:
Pinwheels from Crossroads Cottage on Etsy.com, the pinwheels sat in ceramic jugs I bought from Ikea for next to nothing.
Jars of all shapes and sizes collected by family and friends, where I wrapped the most incredible lace, from my now mother-in-law Sue’s vintage lace collection, around the top of the bottle and we used these as the vases for the flowers.
Our favours were little paper lolly bags from Pulp Creative Paper and we filled them with Pastel coloured Sugarcoated Almonds and Candy handmade with Sean loves Carrie from Candy Addictions in Montville, QLD.
We also had a bunting handmade with “JUST MARRIED” from littlekittenhomemade from etsy, it was delightful.”

“We used hay bales from the local farm produce store and laid quilts over them for guests to sit on. I used some quilts of my mother-in-laws and had some made by sewfunbymonique from etsy. The fabrics Monique uses are just gorgeous and they looked so nice and homey on the day. Fantastic idea as it is cheap and effective and I will now have the quilts forever.
I also bought 2 prints from Dazeychic on etsy. Both delightful – “All you need is Love” and “Today I am happier than a bird with a French Fry”. I bought frames from Ikea and we used them as decoration on the day and props for our photos. Again, something I will now have forever.
We didn’t have a cake, however I was inspired by what I’d seen on blogs and we had an Ice Cream Parlour! We had too many people for ice cream, so my dear friend and bridesmaid and family all got on board to help design the desert parlour and bake the goodies for the day. It was so much fun, we had old fashioned jam sponges with real strawberries and cream, meringues, wonderful Australian lollies which reminded us or our childhood – Strawberries and Cream/Chicos/Teeth/Freckles, we had plates of macaroons, coconut ice, apricot balls, honey joys and chocolate crackle (both traditional Aussie goodies) were wrapped in cupcake holders from The Cupcake Wrapper Co. which I found on Etsy.com. Every one absolutely loved it, it was a major hit and let me tell you EVERYTHING was devoured.”

“Dear friends of ours also created our wedding sign, which we hung up at the entrance to the property and the hanging monograms which we hung in the garden. So blessed to have so many gifted friends and all so willing to help.
We also had a homemade photo booth. We wanted as many photos of guests as possible, completely inspired by numerous wedding blogs we decided to hang fabric in the garden and supplied disposable camera’s for our guests. We also had the cutest props ever – moustaches on a stick, pink lips on a stick, some silly sunglasses, also inspired by the numerous wedding blogs I trawled before the wedding, we bought these from pertyfultings, also found on the wonderful etsy. Fab DIY idea.”

“Last but certainly not least, I could not recommend more Anna from Missprintdesign in New Zealand, also found on etsy. Anna did all of our Save the Dates, Wedding Invitations, our seating cards and our thank you cards to each guest on the table. Another truly talented lady, so very helpful and accommodating to all of my ideas. The remarkable comments about all of the above were endless from our guests. Anna was an amazing find for me.”

well, I told you it was going to be good... be sure to check out the list of talented vendors that helped to make this day so fab and also check out Carries fun and inspiring blog

Style Board No. 13 - Vintage Florals

Hi all, I'm back! probably wondering where I've been... I have been a little busy of late and just haven't had time to blog, sorry! one of my new year resolutions was to be more pro-active in the blogging department, well, I'm not doing so good at that one.

Well, today's style board is all about vintage florals, mixing soft pastel colors with more dramatic darker hues is so stunning, it really creates an old world feel, don't ya think? you could even mix up the theme by pairing up vintage finds with more modern pieces.

Enjoy!

Style Board No. 12 - Lavender and Lace

A combination of lace and lavender creates a wedding that is a little bit french, a little bit vintage, and a little bit rustic. The whimsical designs of lavender and lace create a beautiful mix of chic, modern romance,  just perfect for a dreamy outdoor wedding with lavender fragrance all around, pure gorgeousness!

Style Board No. 11 - mason jars, not just for jam!

Mason jars and old bottles have become more popular than ever before with the growing trend toward rustic-chic, vintage and eco-friendly weddings. I think they bring a simple charm to any wedding or event. Mason jars and bottles can be used and reused over and over - they are so easy to clean and can hold just about anything, a perfect addition to your DIY, eco-friendly wedding!

Happy Monday!

The first ever color inspiration board. Fresh, bright and fun, a combination of gorgeous gray, aqua and coral tones. Perfect colors for a summer wedding!

Style Board No. 10 - Rain, Rain, go away!

This weekend’s endless rain throughout the country has got me thinking that a rainy wedding is on the top of the “wedding day disasters” list, so I wanted to share some tips and a cute style board for making a rainy wedding fabulous.

Have a cute umbrella...
make your wedding pictures pop, with an adorable, elegant, or just plain hilarious umbrella.  having one that you love waiting in the wings could make rain on your wedding day kind of fun and exciting!

Ditch the heels for gumboots...
I just love fun bright gumboots. I can totally see a bride holding a colorful umbrella with matching gumboots peeking out from under her white dress.

Have fun with it!
I think the key to any wedding day mishap (weather or otherwise) is to just have fun with it. As long as you look like you’re having fun, the pictures will reflect that!

Pretty Petals - Hydrangeas

Yay it's the weekend! and a long weekend at that one. Today's post is a little feature I will try to post once a week, all about pretty petals. Flowers, I just love a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, weather freshly picked from the garden or a smart arrangement from the florist. I just love how flowers can transform a room, oh the make me so happy!

So, today's style board is all about Hydrangeas, the are in season at the moment in NZ and I have seen loads of big bushes full of pretty pink and blue Hydrangeas, they are such a fun flower, so big and full yet soft and elegant. Create beautiful bouquets on there own or throw in a few roses or even some greenery to really mix it up.

Have a wonderful weekend all!

Real Wedding - Lori and Shay

Hi all, today I bring you my first real wedding feature, and to make it even more fabulous this is the wedding of my beautiful sister Lori and her gorgeous man of 10 years Shay. Lori and Shay returned to New Zealand from Australia to marry under the Pohutukawa tree at our parents farm on Christmas Eve 2010.

Style Board No. 9 - Pretty Garden Tea Party

Happy Monday all! hope you all had a great weekend... lots planned for this week, stay tuned.

This weeks style board is all about pretty garden tea parties. A sweet tea party is perfect for a wedding, engagement party or even a bridal shower, and a perfect way for anyone wanting to scale back costs, but still have an event that will be unique and whimsical.
Think mismatched tablecloths, teapots, teacups, and dishes that can be easily found at thrift shops and garage sales. Serve sandwiches and other finger foods and give desserts a starring role. Instead of a wedding cake, have a variety of yummy homemade desserts including cupcakes displayed on mismatching vintage plates and saucers.

Ice-cream and Lemonade

Hi all, Happy New Year! hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas with family and friends, I sure did, and it was extra special this year as my sister married her sweetheart on Christmas Eve.

I hope you southern hemisphere folk got to take a break, I was lucky enough to sneak off to the Coromandel for a week with friends for the New Year period, a much deserved break!

Now, I am back into the swing of things and have loads planned for 2011, the year is already turning out unreal! I have lots of ideas and inspiration so keep an eye out for new things on the blog and shop. This year I am determined to be a better blogger and get a lot more organized... watch out office space, ya won't know what's hit ya!

So, to this weeks style board... Ice-cream and Lemonade, yummo!
This is a fun style board inspired by all the ice-creams I have been eating of late, and my intentions of making lemonade with all the lemons I have picked off my in-laws tree... great ideas to have at a summer wedding, a gorgeous ice-cream bar and freshly squeezed summer drinks for your guests to sip on.
